Meet Mike Savoy: GCAP’s Newest Lab Instructor

Mike Savoy is the newest lab/maintenance support at GCAP. Growing up using his mechanical knowledge was developed early on by working on home projects with his father, who was project crew supervisor employed in the local beef industry where Mike followed suite. After 3 years of maintenance at a beef packing plant, the need for more conceptual knowledge became increasingly prevalent convincing Mike to attend community College. After completing numerous courses surrounding chemistry, physics, drafting, and CAD, he applied this education to entrepreneurial endeavors.

Over the next 15 years he focused on family, on education, and on a design and remodeling business that found fluctuating success. Eventually deciding to seek more stable salary while freeing up some more time for family, he revisited opportunities in industrial maintenance. Upon applying for a maintenance position in a Colorado based beef packing plant, he was recruited directly into the ammonia refrigeration department. The diversity of the position satisfied his need for mentally and physically active tasks through fast paced demands and mentally stimulating troubleshooting fueled interest in the intricacies of the refrigeration process. We are excited to add Mike to the GCAPCoolCast Team! Welcome Mike!
